Euthanasia Services for Cats & Dogs

Helping your pet get the best care they deserve during their final moments.

Euthanasia is something most people would rather not think about. Unfortunately, pets become old and ill. When they are suffering, many times pet euthanasia is the most caring and compassionate thing a pet owner can do. For questions about pet euthanasia or to schedule an appointment, call us at 403-342-5200. We'd be happy to make this difficult process a little easier on your family.

How do we know it's time to say goodbye?

It can be difficult for pet owners to determine when it's time to say goodbye to their beloved pets, especially if the pet has both good and bad days. If you are unsure as to whether it's time to say goodbye, we can evaluate your pet's health and answer your questions to help you make a decision. Below are some common signs that it may be time:

  1. Your pet is in chronic pain that cannot be alleviated with medication
  2. Your pet has stopped eating and/or lost weight
  3. Your pet has chronic vomiting and diarrhea that cannot be controlled
  4. Your pet's activity levels have dropped
  5. Your pet can no longer stand or walk on their own

What is the process like?

Many pet owners choose in-office pet euthanasia. However, many still want to ensure their pets are comfortable for the journey and help them reduce any anxiety they may have. For example, on some occasions we can provide a sedative you can give to your pet prior to arriving at our veterinary office to make their last car journey more comfortable.

Once you arrive, you will have the option of choosing how involved you wish to be in your pet's final moments. If you wish to stay with your beloved dog or cat throughout, our team will escort you to a private room where you can say your goodbyes and hold your pet while they pass.

During the procedure, your veterinarian will give your pet a sedative to put them to sleep before injecting one final medication to help them pass peacefully. Once your pet has passed, you will have the option to take your pet back home for burial, or we can help send your pet to a place where they can be cremated, and you can retrieve their ashes at a later date.
