Cat & Dog Nutrition Counselling

Helping you choose the best foods for your pet's dietary needs.

Nutrition is the single most important aspect of your pet's life that you should pay close attention to. Proper nutrition provides the building blocks for good health. However, we know choosing your pet's diet can be overwhelming considering the vast amount of food on the market. That's why we're here to help you out – call us at 403-342-5200.

What is nutrition counselling?

When walking through the food aisle, there are many factors to consider. Nutrition counselling allows us to help you solve that problem and provides us the opportunity to learn about your pet's dietary history. We will ask questions about their eating habits, feeding schedule, possible allergic reactions to certain types of food, and many more. From there, we will curate the best diet or weight loss plan for your pet based on their dietary needs, such as what they should include in their diet and what should be avoided.

How often does my pet need nutrition counselling?

Unless there is a severe weight issue, nutrition counselling will typically happen during their annual health visits. A lot can change within a year so it's important for your veterinarian to monitor your pet's weight and ensure they have the proper nutrition to be healthy.

What types of food should my dog never eat?

As much as you want to feed your dog a treat as they intently stare at you with loving eyes, there are some foods you should never give to your dog:

  • Grapes
  • Chocolate
  • Dairy products
  • Onions
  • Garlic
